Marketing and Events Intern

Position Description

We are seeking an energetic and technology savvy individual to provide marketing, event planning and administrative support in service to the organization.

This Marketing and Event Coordinator Internship is a 10-15 hour a week, available to any student interested in gaining real-world experience in the Marketing and Communications field. This position would span the duration of the spring semester, with travel flexibility for non-local students. There may be an opportunity to extend through the summer and/or fall semester (TBD).

COMPENSATION

$10/hour

FUNCTIONS

The following activities are included with this position:

  • Monthly E-Mail Newsletters (content, tracking, list maintenance)
  • Get hands-on experience with MailChimp bulk e-mail service
  • Board Meetings (meeting minutes, location coordination, preparing lunch orders)
  • Participate in board meetings and get a better understanding of how organizations with boards manage budget, expenses and other topics
  • Event Coordination (coordinating the event, set-up, registration, clean-up)
  • Work on a team to see how events are put together, from budget to implementation
  • LOIS Updates (entering and updating data into Location One system for available properties in Johnston)
  • Learn about property listings, data research and entry, and system maintenance
  • Membership Recruitment (assembling membership renewal packets, preparing mailings)
  • Gain valuable insight into how membership organizations operate, including retaining and recruiting members
  • Social Media (create, edit and monitor Twitter)
  • Blog and Web Content (write articles, prepare photos, format page)
  • Learn the in’s and out’s of WordPress Divi theme by composing blog content, formatting photos and even getting your hands on some light web design opportunity
  • Analytics (Google Analytics and Youtube Analytics)
  • Understand the importance of tracking marketing efforts by taking a deep-dive into Google Analytics and Youtube Analytics

QUALIFICATIONS
The following attributes are required for the position:

  • A sophomore, junior or senior-level student pursuing a degree in communications, marketing, journalism, event planning, public administration or a related field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent soft skills and a professional demeanor and presence with the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and various web browsers
